A local artist asked friends to select a cutting tool which represented a painful experience. However, though I searched, I was unable to find anything.
I realized why. Many fantasize about going to an enlightened teacher, imagining that he or she will dispense illumination. It isn't like that. An authentic teacher forces a seeker to own the darkness within and withdraw projections.
The greatest pain in my life has been acknowledging that I am the one creating the depression, the anger, the frustration. This is why I couldn't find a knife.
Instead I found a mirror.
true circumcision of the heart..LOVE THIS!!
ReplyDeleteGreat insight!
ReplyDeleteGreat job. I loved this. It is so true and what I believe.
ReplyDeleteI love this!
ReplyDeleteIt's so true! We're human and it's hard to take on the spiritual path. Working within ourselves does not mean that we are immediately perfected--it's work and it takes a long time--many pitfalls along the way, but we pick ourselves up and try again!
Great blog!
Very thought-provoking. Often we are our own worst enemies.
ReplyDeleteThis is perfection in 100 words. Well done!
ReplyDeleteYep, look within first. Cool post :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so true! You have to look within yourself when you don't like someone. Great post! =D

So meaningful with so few words. This is excellent.
ReplyDeleteI can really relate to this wonderful post, because I am my own worst enemy and usually don't need a knife, only a mirror. Because of this there is only one mirror in my whole house, and it is small. Great post with a whole lot of meaning! Well done!

The mirror is mightier than the sword (knife). Great post.
ReplyDeleteYes.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your story. There is such a light touch to your writing and it is wonderful. So glad you two warmed up with your chowder and bread! It's amazing how a hot tea or soup can send warmth through our bodies!
